Tracking Hope in Nairobi

‘Tracking Hope in Nairobi’ is a partnership project between The New York University (NYU) and WERK'

This project is managed on WERK’s side by Jonah Ondieki. The project is a rigorous study of educational attainment among youth in Nairobi and its relationship to hope, aspirations for the future, as well as positive (or negative) attitudes and behaviors.

The study follows a select group of high school students through the next year and a half of their life as they go on to university, alternate education, the work force and other activities. For the baseline, THINK has partnered with 40 schools within Nairobi City County that have encouraged their form 4 candidates for the Kenya Certificate Secondary Education (KCSE) to voluntarily participate. THINK is primarily a quantitative longitudinal study based on a Regression Discontinuity Design (RDD).
