Youth Education and Sports Program (YES)

WERK is currently hosting and mentoring  Youth Education and Sports Program  (YES) a refugee led organization based and working in Kakuma refugee camp.  The YES project aims to achieve the following 5 outcomes:

  1. Strengthening of the social support system for children and youth to complement school and family.
  2. Strengthening of social-emotional learning skills that contribute to the development of 21st century skills for learning through mentoring and coaching in a structured setting; teacher professional development.
  3. Strengthening of healthy life habits in the challenging circumstances of displacement and promotion of life-long learning habits.
  4. Empowerment of refugee management teams to co-design, co-develop, co-manage and supervise sports programs in fragile contexts (sports management as a livelihood option).
  5. Integration, where possible, of national staff and national coaches (Kenya) and refugees through sports.
